GLENMORANGIE EALANTA LAUNCH

On Thursday 18th April, whisky legend Dr Bill Lumsden hosted an evening of literary inspiration and sensory journeys in the Brennan Library at The University of Sydney, sharing the latest addition to his “cabinet of curiosities”, the Private Edition Glenmorangie Ealanta.

Amidst the dusty tomes, guests were treated to an evening of Highland fun, with a whisky-matched menu, waiters in kilts, Alan Johnson on the piano, Mark Twain quotes galore and an “erudite photo booth”.

MARILYN GRACE was on hand to transfer the student college common room into a library where you would expect to find Mark Twain penning his novels and letters. To do this we drew on the existing book linen walls and added rich Chesterfield lounges, persian rugs, ottomans and greenery to transform the space. Finishing touches of a travellers possessions such as binoculars, telescope, suit cases, magnify glasses, a compass and a taxidermy Puffin completed the look.

A Mark Twain desk was created to act as a photo booth were guests were invited to share with us an original, favourite or Twain quote, which was captured as a photo moment and sent to them to share on their various social networks.

Glenmorangie Ealanta is a limited edition 1993 whisky that has been aged in American virgin oak casks, made from wood grown in the Mark Twain National Forest in Missouri. Glenmorangie is world renowned for its research into the effect of wood on whisky maturation, and the company’s Head of Distilling and Whisky Creation, Dr. Bill Lumsden, is a much awarded pioneer in this field.
